Hola todos.

Mi llamo Roberto, y voy a espania el ano que beine. Me espanol escrito es mui mal, pero aqui sera un sitio mui bueno para empender mi spanol escrito...

Desculpe, pero nessesito a cambiar al ingles

Hello people,

My name is Robert and I have joined as I will be moving to Spain next year. My written spanish has much to be desired, put I suppose this is a great place to learn ;)

My question is this: I need to import my bike to spain, but I hear that I have to get my bike registered, but before I can do that I have to get my bike past an ITV test... which requires to have my bike registered first... Typical ;)

What is a "Homolatation Contrasenja Europa"???? Please excuse the spelling.... I have been told I need this before I can register the bike.

Oh and of course... my bike is a Honda VFR2004 with 50kkms. I travel the Alps mainly, and have done some trips though spain to visit family..

I will of course write more and more Spanish as time goes by..

Gracias, y veremos ;)

Hola Rob !
Esta es sin problema, pero ! es nescicito cambio in 30 dias (max)

Hi Rob.
I can kind of say it, but its hard to write mate.
Ok you 30 days to register your "vehicles" when you arrive here, or you will have to pay an import duty of 17% approx and the value of any vehicle is determined by traffico !
Now as you are travelling overland (no channel?) it will be hard for traffico to argue when you arrived, so when you arrive will be determined by when you either apply for an NIE/Rent a house/Buy a house/Register on the Padron.
All this can be easily sorted by the Gestoria here in Navarres   :D
ITV is not a problem btw.

Welcome to the "ClubEspana"

Ello Brian ;)

Just got my NIE through the door yesterday, but dont intend to buy until we sold the flat here, so the bike will be stored over the winter in spain.

I have been informed that the 17% is only if you come from outside the EU... which I'm not.

I need to understand the proceedure. When I get there next weekend, what is the most important thing to do? ITV? Get the bike registered? and then can I apply for spanish plates from home??

Dr Z

p.s Did you look into that other thing for me?

Hola robo.

Brian

Hi Rob.
The Tax "will" be levid on "any" Vehicle/Bike (inc EU)
The first job is to have the bike inspected by an approved enigneer to see if it conforme (120eu), yes I know its an EU vehicle, but they are the rules.
He will issue a Fisca Technica & you can then get the bike an ITV in Xativa.

As I say the Gestoria in Navarres will arrange all this and answer any questions.
